Cheers Al, maybe a shot will turn up one day, there were a lot of people with cameras there, otherwise you'll just have to remember it from the inside :)

Hi Jason, Thanks for the mention, I've had quite a few people commenting on "that barrel", shame no-one got the sequence shot. This was an exeptional day, I really like the photo in the top right corner.

Pearl would've been amazing to see, reckon there would've been some epic set waves there with the size of swell and strength of the offshores, and i dont blame you for not going out there alone!

A fair amount of surfers did make it in at the bay, but they were spread out all day, there was a dozen in first thing, and that number remained pretty steady throughout the day with all the comings and goings, maybe you got lucky and had a quiet time?

I'd have gone to the Pearl if anyone else had been out there, as I think it suits the SUP more. I agree the SUP was not the tool for the day, or the location, but my surfboard needs fixing, and I couldn't resist getting out. Having said that I couldn't believe how few surfers were out, where were they all?

hello eric, fair play for owning up :) i've got a few more shots of you that i'll be posting in the coming days, some are pretty cool. My personal opinion is that i'm not sure the bay is the place for SUP's on a day like that, unless your really experienced, its a bit dangerous for the others out there with that huge board, but then again, i dont make the rules, its a free world (mostly) and you did show a lot of balls and commitment in some heavy waves.

Hi Jason,
I was on the SUP, and have to admit to spending 3 hours of getting absolutely pummelled, for the sake of catching a handful of waves but it was worth it! Thanks for the photos. Will try and do better next time!
Eric
PS Apologies to the surfer - I hope I didn't ruin his ride.

Hey Jas

Love your site and blog. Lots of beautiful images of a pumping Freshwater Bay.

I'm just wondering how that guy went with the paddle about to go up that face in No1 shot on this page!

Cheers
